By the end of the day your kitchen is a mess, there is flour all over the place, you faced some difficulty while baking and the icing did not come right. The steaks were fine, just a little dry! Well you know that you are good cook, but there are some moments when cooking can turn into a nightmare! And you are beginning to dread any forthcoming party, afraid that you might mess up again. Well in times like this, a good tip from a chef or a friend will help you in making the right decisions while cooking. There are some general cooking tips provided to make your time in the kitchen an experience to remember.
Always prepare before cooking, because it saves your energy from scrambling and rummaging for things in the kitchen and it helps to keep your kitchen clean.
While cleaning mushrooms, do not wash them under running water, because they are soft and will absorb lots of water. Instead wipe the mushrooms with a damp cloth.
To avoid spaghetti and noodles from boiling over, rub the interiors of the pot with some cooking oil.
Insert an apple in a bag of potatoes to prevent the potatoes from budding. Always remember to change your ground spices after 6 months, because they tend to lose their flavour.
While preparing soups use a hand blender to puree than transferring the contents to a food processor.
To make juicy steaks follow these simple instructions: Preheat the oven for cooking steaks, this will lead to the outside of the meat to sear, retaining the juices inside. While turning the steaks, do not use a fork instead use a spatula to avoid the juices from leaking.
While making sandwiches, try replacing tomatoes with cucumbers soaked in pepper and vinegar and instead of mayo use mustard.
If the icing is not immediately used after it is made, it tends to stiffen and tends to form crusts. For applying the icing, buy an icing spatula. This spatula will lessen the amount of time you will require to apply the icing on the cake.
When the icing on the cake is sticky, wet and fresh, sprinkle the toppings generously. But if the icing is too dry and topping won't stick, thin it with a little amount of milk or water.
If you are using buttermilk icing, do not make it advance, fresh is always better. Store the icing in an air tight container.
